Travel to
the Trust - Public transport

- Travel to Oban via Glasgow. The journey from
Glasgow takes about 3 hours by
coach or by
train
- Take the ferry from Oban to Craignure.
- Take the bus from Craignure to Tobermory.
Be aware that the buses do not meet all the ferries, the bus timetables
can be found at the Argyll
and Bute website by following the bus timetable links.
- The HWDT office is situated on Main Street and shares
an entrance with The Anchorage restaurant.
Travel to
the Trust - Driving Up
- Take the
ferry from Oban to Craignure or from Lochaline to Fishnish.
Booking is neccessary on the Oban to Craignure route. All ferries
are run by Caledonian MacBrayne.
- Follow signs for Tobermory, this involves turning right off the
ferry and staying on the same road for about half an hour. The road
becomes single track at Salen.
- Once you reach Tobermory turn right at the roundabout (there is
only one roundabout on Mull) and head down the hill.
- The HWDT visitor
centre is further down the road on the left hand side past the village clock.

Advice for
driving on single track roads.
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION - IT CAN BE VERY FRUSTRATING FOR LOCALS IF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE ON THE ROADS PROPERLY!
Mull is getting
busier and busier with cars, however many of the roads are still single
track. The mixture of tourists who have all day to drive somewhere,
and locals who are wanting to get to or from work - can cause confusion.
In order to keep things moving on the roads there is one golden rule
for driving on single track roads: Use passing places to let
the car behind you overtake!!
- If the passing place is on the left then pull into it so the car
behind can drive straight past you.
- If the passing place is on the right, pull into the left - opposite
it - so the car behind can drive round you.
- If you have pulled into a passing place for an oncoming car, why
not just stay there after the oncoming car has past, and wave the
car behind you to go ahead.
- Give way to cars coming up hill wherever possible.
