Grey seal pup

Females give birth to a single white coated pup, which moults and is abandoned by its mother after only 3 weeks. Pups are left while their mothers go out to feed, and use scent to recognise their young, which is why it is best to leave well alone as their mother will reject the pup if the scent changes.
