Marine turtles

Marine turtles are an endangered species due to pollution, habitat destruction, drowning an due to fishing nets, over harvesting of turtles and eggs and over predation. Marine turtles grow very slowly and it can take 30 – 50 years to reach sexual maturity. They live in one place for many years before they migrate to their nesting grounds.

Females go back to the same area where they were born, to give birth themselves.
Recently there has been a large problem with plastic bags digested by marine turtles, so we should try to reduce the amount of marine litter we have in our oceans.
